A three-year maximum period of validity for SCAMPI Class A appraisals will beinstituted with the release of CMMI Version 1.2. Though an appraisal can becomeno longer valid for other reasons, three years after the appraisal end date theappraisal results will expire and become invalid based on age.

The SEI will notify an organization of the age oftheir appraisal at the two year point. This practice will alert organizationsin time for them to plan a new appraisal before the older appraisal resultsexpire.
